One star is one star too many!

Worst moving experience of our lives! I've moved 7 times in the past 15 years, and Harrison's made this the worst one by far! Every thing started out well when the movers came to pack the house. It fit nicely in one large truck and some into a smaller one. We discussed insurance previously and wanted whatever would give us the most accurate amount if something happened.

Our items went into storage for a week while we stayed in a hotel out of state and until we could move into the new home. We were told they unloaded the entire packed truck, combined it with the smaller truck, but still left 800lbs of our items behind to put it all on a larger semi with someone else's things to come to Maryland. They claimed "fuel saving costs" to benefit the company, but when I already paid almost $1,000 in fuel for that truck for the move (as part of the $8,000 they already charged), this was not acceptable. I was furious they moved everything truck to truck (after I told them they better not do it) because this is where a lot got damaged and lost. Apparently, the company comes before the paying customer.

Delivery day came, and they unloaded 90% of our items. They lost our ladder and two large glass vases. 2 of our good dining room chairs were destroyed, wine glasses shattered, desk busted, cookware cracked, office desk smashed, printer busted and no longer working, and countless scratches and dents on many pieces of furniture! Some boxes were crushed beyond recognition. Then they said another truck would be on the way with "items deemed less important". This ended up being half of our clothing we needed immediately, as we were flying out of state for a conference and needed our clothes! Their operations manager was a nightmare to deal with. The second truck was supposed to come the following day - we were told as the first was being unloaded, but then they tried to push it back and never gave us a time. I had to hound them to get it delivered within 2 days so we had clothing.

Then we kept going back and forth about our missing ladder and glass vases. Harrison's kept naturally saying everything was delivered and their warehouse keeps excellent tabs on items. Yet there we were, missing items AND we had someone else's workout weights! Obviously, they can't do anything correctly. They never did find our items and we had to file a claim.

Just under $2,000 in damages and missing items. We had to hoop jump with Apple Moving Insurance, spreadsheets, photos, values. They had 60 days to give us a reimbursement amount. It took well over 60 days and instead of insurance giving us the $2,000 in damages they caused, we got a whole frigging $153.00! Then they made all of these excuses in the email as to regulations and why they can't pay us more. We asked for the best insurance and this is what we got!? Insurance is there to cover damages, not screw over customers.

NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER use Harrison's Moving! So many awful reviews of how they run their business and here's another. Yet, my favorite part will be when they read this, they want to save face and reply, "Oh, we're so sorry you had this experience, we want to make it right, contact us here and we'll help you." I'm done dealing with anyone who works for you. You truly want to make it right, send us a check for $2,000 to replace the items your company lost or destroyed. It won't make up for the hassle and headaches, but at least it'd be a start!

Exceeded every expectation!

Every detail was attended with professionalism.  They even took care to place the inventory stickers where they would not damage the finish!  They chose to park across the street from my old home - which created more work for them - because they worried that they might damage the trees near the driveway.  They made sure that I was pleased with the placement of every item.  They even moved my heaviest, bulkiest piece of furniture twice.  It would not fit up the stairs (they really tried!) so they cheerfully relocated it to another room. The guys on this crew were ones that I would be glad to share a meal with rather than ones I would fear to meet in the dark! From my first contact with Harrison's until the truck pulled out of my new driveway, my best expectations were exceeded!

Poor Customer Service.

Looking for a moving company? Stay away from Harrison’s Moving and Storage. Once they receive your money, all concern for you as a customer ends. This company moved my household goods from Virginia Beach to storage in Chesapeake during May of 2013. In December, they moved my belongings to Brandon, Florida. This is where the fiasco began. They broke a custom driftwood sculpture, a $600.00 butcher block custom table, and my washing machine. My wooden furniture is full of gouges and scratches. I put a claim in showing proper documentation in January of 2014. It is almost May and I have yet to be reimbursed. I am continuously told that the owner, John Mullen, has to come in and sign off on the paperwork. No wonder the company is run so poorly. Obviously, the owner never stops by, or at least so I am told. Don’t listen to fast talking salesman Tony Wasco when he tells you all the wonderful things about Harrison’s. They are careless with your belongings, care nothing about customer service, and won’t reimburse damages in a timely manner, if at all. .

Pleasant Move !!

Just realized I had not given a review of our experience with Harrison. We moved last May from off Moyer Road in Newport News, VA to Lucas Creek Road in the same City. From arranging our move with Tony, to the office assistance to the actual movers (3) was a very pleasant and professional experience. They went above and beyond helping us with this move. All of our items arrived in excellent condition - the movers placed everything exactly where we wanted them. Being retired and up in age, this meant a great deal to us. We have already recommended you to a couple of our friends who may need services in the not-to-distant future. Again, a huge thank you to all involved with our move!!

Recent move very disappointing.

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for.
Harrison's came recommended and performed an excellent job in my move from VA to NY. Thus, my expectations were reasonably high for another great move back to VA.
The movers were late in arriving. They intercommunicated to the driver about packing my house, and so were not done the first day. After several promises to pack everything, they did not bring 2 large floor rugs. I cannot find other key things like an iron or a box of 15+ light bulbs. An armchair was put in the truck without any protection, thus making it very dirty; it is as if sand has been thrown into every nook and cranny of the chair.
There are scuff marks on the walls of my new apartment where they rubbed them with furniture.
After two calls in to complain to the management, I have never received a call back.

First Civilian Moving Experience Horrible!

We moved/stored our household goods from Virginia to Florida. After 13 military moves we had more damage on this move than any other move. Broken glassware, scrapes, dents, scratches broken corners on furniture. The glassware was the major issue as the boxes were over packed so numerous items broken. Very poor experience. The movers were quite vocal that they were going to other jobs before or after so perhaps too tired to do a good job for us. We doubt we will get any $$ from our damage claim but filed hoping Harrison's understands what a poor job was done.

Entire contents of move either moldy or smells of mildew.

Horrible experience. EVERYTHING MOVED BY THIS COMPANY HAS BLACK MOLD ON IT OR SMELLS LIKE MOLD AND MILDEW. Every box, dresser, piece of clothing, plastic, electronics etc. stinks. Our property had to be stored by Harrison’s for 4 months between moving from our old house to our new house. Wherever our property was stored must have been wet/damp and a very high temperature. White plastics and clothes were baked to a golden brown. Steel items are rusted. My wife’s wedding dress is discolored/ destroyed. It looks to me like my property was stored in a container outside baking in the hot sun. They refuse to replace any damaged items. They tell me they may send a company to deodorize the salvageable property but I will be responsible for moving my property to where the deodorizing will take place. I feel like I have been scammed.

Terrible Experience

There isn't a star low enough on this scale. I will never use this company again and will make it a mission to ensure no one else uses them. Between switching trucks on us between pick up and delivery, losing furniture, damaging furniture, and destroying family pieces it was the worst experience ever. To add insult to injury, we are receiving a check for $153 for damages when the claim was much higher. Not sure how they sleep at night. Avoid this company at all costs if you value your items.
